Three friends hike the famous pilgrimage of Camino de Santiago in search of escape, meaning, rest, and adventure. This documentary style series of videos follows along as this group of friends navigate the Camino’s twists and turns and venture towards a final destination. Despite the end goal, the camino is less about the destination and more about the journey.
St. James
St. James was one of Jesus’ disciples whose remains lie in the Cathedral at Santiago de Compostela. Thousands of pilgrims walk there each year but who was James and why was he famous? Then the king [God] will reply to them, ‘I assure you that when you have done it for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you have done it for me.’ — Matthew 25:40 Jesus speaking: “A thief comes only to rob, kill, and destroy. I came so everyone would have life, and have it fully.” John 10:10 Once again Jesus spoke to the people. This time he said, “I am the light for the world! Follow me, and you won’t be walking in the dark. You will have the light that gives life.” — John 8:12
Questions:
1. Do you ever crave the simplicity of a life of just following instructions? Why or why not?
2. If you could walk the Camino with St. James, what would you ask him?
3. How would it have felt to be James, letting go of everything and simply following Jesus?
